Arizona Developmental Services (ADS)

Arizona Developmental Services (ADS) is a day treatment and training program designed to help young adults with disabilities to become adults with abilities.

Our mission is to transition young adults with disabilities to independent living and community employment through a variety of programs. We believe that individuals with disabilities should have the option to live their lives like individuals without disabilities. Learning life skills will empower individuals with disabilities to be a bigger part of their community.

Arizona Developmental Services has a variety of programs available for members. Each program developed with the intentions of promoting and teaching independence. ADS also works with Word Play to provide in house Speech Therapy to members approved for the service.

What is the age group?

18 or older, or high school graduate.

Is it a safe environment?

ADS is HCBS certified, OLCR certified, has consistent safety and fire inspections. The grounds are also enclosed and gated. ADS keeps a ratio of at least 1 staff to every 4.5 members.

Are there friendly/patient staff members to meet member needs?

All of our staff are compassionate and well trained in the services we provide and the individual needs of each member at ADS.

Can I choose from a full-time or part-time schedule?

To receive the most benefit from the program, members are encouraged to enroll full-time. Full-time is considered 7 hours a day, not including transportation. Transportation is only available to those enrolled full-time. Part-time will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

What are the program hours of operation?

ADS is open Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm.

What time is the transportation pick up and drop off?

Pick up and drop off time depends on location but falls between 7:45am and 5:15pm. Caregivers will be notified of approximate pick up and drop off times at time of enrollment.

Is ADS closed on holidays?

ADS is closed on all major holidays. Caregivers will be informed in advance.

What are the staff credentials?
All staff are at a minimum CPR, First Aid and Article 9 certified. Please see the contact us page to read more on individual staff members.
What types of life skills are offered?

Just a few of the independent life skills we offer: cooking and food management, technology training, money management, personal hygiene and appearance, transportation, housekeeping, and community socializing.

Executive Director

Shelbey England

Shelbey was born and raised in Desert Hills, Arizona and currently resides with her Mini-Dachshund Ginny and Goldendoodle Fizzy in downtown Phoenix. Shelbey received her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Social Work from Arizona State University. She became interested in working within the social work field during her studies at ASU and knew that was what she wanted to pursue as a career. Shelbey enjoys encouraging members to explore their abilities and achieve goals in a fun environment. Her dream for ADS is to continue to provide quality DTA services, employment programs, and more to ADS members!

Adriana Campos

Job Coach/Direct Support Professional

Adriana has been a valued employee of ADS since 2017! Adriana is the lead job coach and a direct support professional. She loves watching every member succeed and accomplish their goals as this brings so much meaning to our role-the growth in independence of members is such a reward! When Adriana is not working, she is a full-time mom and loves doing things with her children.

Dianna Decker

Parent, Secretary of the Board

Dianna is a wife and a mother of two boys. She enjoys the outdoors, camping, hiking, biking, and kayaking.

Aubrey Charbonneau

Treasurer of the Board

Aubrey has spent her career focused on all things business – specifically accounting and finance. As an ASU Accounting Alumni and current MBA student at the University at Buffalo, Aubrey has pursued higher education to make sure that her contributions to any organization not only meet but exceed expectations. Currently, she is the Financial Controller for a software company in Western NY. This position has challenged Aubrey to expand her knowledge of management and apply this to a more encompassing, executive role. When asked to join the ADS board, she was beyond excited for the opportunity. Excited to be a part of, not only, a great cause but something that plays a special role in her hometown. Aubrey looks forward to the future growth and continued success of this program. 

Beth Kennedy

Board Member

Beth has been in the technology field for 20 years. She graduated from DeVry Technical Institute with a Bachelors in Computer Information Systems and Kankakee Community College with an Associate in Arts. She has one son who is married and resides in Arizona. Her hobbies include Snow and Water Skiing, hiking and jogging. Beth is proud to be a member of Arizona Developmental Services team and looks forward to their continued expansion.
